{"id":1289,"date":"2024-07-02T15:59:41","date_gmt":"2024-07-02T14:59:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.608vets.com\/news\/?p=1289"},"modified":"2026-02-13T16:10:47","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T16:10:47","slug":"608-vets-team-tackle-marathon-charity-walk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.608vets.com\/news\/608-vets-team-tackle-marathon-charity-walk\/","title":{"rendered":"608 Vets team tackle marathon charity walk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group of the 608 team are t<span data-contrast=\"auto\">aking on a marathon trek to fund raise for the Alzheimer&#8217;s Society.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0 We&#8217;re taking part in Trek2<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">6 through the Cotswolds on 6 July.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">Lead nurse Ally came up with the idea, as her <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">father was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer\u2019s in 2020 aged just 60.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ally said: \u201cIt\u2019s a charity that\u2019s very close to my heart and we\u2019re keen to raise as much money as we can for the Alzheimer&#8217;s Society.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cMy dad has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer&#8217;s disease and it\u2019s a disease that not only affects the person diagnosed, but the whole family.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe Society helps those living with dementia today and it\u2019s also providing hope for the future as it works towards a world where dementia will no longer devastate lives.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cWe have already raised double our initial target of \u00a31,000, which is excellent, but we want to raise as much as possible so any donations will be greatly received.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ally will be joined on the trek by practice manager Lindsey Whitburn, vet nurses Yvette Luckett and Hannah Greenway plus former clinical director Deborah Hope.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The 26-mile route starts and finishes at Postlip Farm, Cheltenham, and takes in Langley Hill, descending into the villages of Gretton and Gotherington before a steep climb to reach Cleeve Common.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The route then joins the Winchcombe Way on its way south towards Sevenhampton, Sudeley Castle, and finally follows the Cotswolds Way to the finish.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If anyone would like to donate, please <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justgiving.com\/team\/608forgetmenots\">click here for Ally&#8217;s JustGiving page<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A group of the 608 team are taking on a marathon trek to fund raise for the Alzheimer&#8217;s Society.\u00a0 We&#8217;re&hellip; <\/p>\n<p class=\"link-more\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.608vets.com\/news\/608-vets-team-tackle-marathon-charity-walk\/\" class=\"cta\">Read more&hellip;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":1290,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1289","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-general-news"],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.608vets.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1289","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.608vets.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.608vets.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.608vets.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.608vets.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1289"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.608vets.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1289\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.608vets.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1290"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.608vets.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1289"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.608vets.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1289"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.608vets.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1289"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
